Clay Detox Bath Recipe

Clay Detox Bath Instructions

Dissolve the Epsom salts in a warm/hot bath and add essential oils if desired. For the clay there are two options:

  1. Vigorously mix the clay in to a small amount of water until the clumps are mostly dissolved. Do not use metal for this! Mix with a plastic spoon in a glass jar. Add the clay mix to the bath and soak for at least 20 minutes.

  2. Mix that clay with a small amount of water to make a paste. Stand in the tub full of water and rub the clay mix all over your body to create a skin mask and let dry for 5 minutes before sitting down. This provides direct contact with the skin and effectively pulls toxins from the skin. Soak in bath at least 20 minutes or as long as desired. While soaking, use a wash cloth to scrub any remaining clay off the skin.

This bath is great for removing a lot of toxins as the clay binds to heavy metals and the Epsom salts help pull a variety of toxins from the body while replenishing magnesium levels.

Vinegar Detox Bath Recipe

This is an excellent bath for soothing skin problems since vinegar balances the skin’s pH.

Apple cider vinegar has a whole host of benefits, and I find it helps not only my skin but leaves me with soft skin and shiny hair as well.

Vinegar Bath Instructions

  1. Once or twice a week, fill a tub with warm to hot water and add 1-2 cups of apple cider vinegar.

  2. Soak for 20-30 minutes, using a washcloth to clean my face and making sure to get hair wet as well.

After bathing, rinse off in a cool shower, though some sources recommend letting the vinegar water dry on the skin.

Charcoal Mask

Charcoal Mask Instructions

  1. In a small glass bowl add the water and essential oil.

  2. Sprinkle the bentonite clay over the top of the water mixture in the bow. Allow it to absorb for about 10 seconds before adding the rest of the ingredients. This makes the mixture easier to combine.

  3. Use a small rubber spatula to mash and mix everything together. The clay will want to stay lumpy, so this takes a few minutes to mix thoroughly. You’ll have enough mixture here for two face masks.

  4. Once your mask is mixed, apply it liberally to your face. Allow it to dry, about 10 minutes, before washing off with soap and warm water.

Note: This mask is meant to be used in one use and will not store well, as it does not contain preservatives.

Tips

  • Charcoal can and will stain light-colored fabrics, and possibly your sink. Be sure to avoid getting it on your clothes, and immediately clean it off of your sink when using.

  • This mask can be tough to get off, and gentle soap helps to get the rest of the charcoal off of your skin. Using a washcloth helps too, but it may permanently stain, so use an old one. A washcloth also scrubs the charcoal across the skin, which may be too irritating for some skin types.

  • This charcoal face mask may be too drying for some skin types, especially after using soap to remove it. If you find your skin needs it, then apply a thin layer of oil, like sweet almond or pumpkin seed oil, or your favorite natural face lotion afterward.

Homemade DIY Flaxseed Gel Recipe

  • 1/4 cup Brown Flax Seeds

  • 32 oz Distilled Water

  • 2 oz Hemp Seed Oil

  • 1/4 cup Marshmallow Root

  • 1 tsp Guar Gum

  • 20 Drops Fragrance

Optional Ingredients

  • 1 oz Aloe Vera Juice or Gel (Do not cook)

  • Other oils

  • 1% Preservative

Materials

  • Stove

  • Small Pot

  • Small Strainer

  • Whisk

  • Small Spatula

  • Mason Jar for Storage

STEP 1

Fill a small pot with 2 cups of water, bring water to a boil, and add Marshmallow Root. Boil for 10 mins. After boiling, strain Marshmallow tea into Mason Jar.

STEP 2

Pour the tea back into the pot on low heat, sprinkle Guar Gum into the pot stirring continuously to avoid lumps. Use a whisk to avoid lumps. Once it becomes a gooey paste, remove from heat.

STEP 3

Place the Guar Gum paste into the mason jar and set aside. You will later add the Flax Seed Gel base to this and stir/shake well.

STEP 4

Bring 2 cups of water to a raging boil and then add Flax Seeds to pot. Boil for 7-8 mins while stirring occasionally. Watch the pot carefully as it may overflow.

TEP 5

once there’s a “foam-like” layer - similar to egg whites, quickly remove from heat. Place a strainer on top of the mason jar and begin to strain the seeds from the gel.

STEP 6

Pour the gel little by little, allowing the gel to separate easily. Don’t let the gel sit too long in the pot, it will be difficult to separate seeds from the gel. Pour any extra gel into another container.

STEP 7

Now add Hemp Seed Oil & Fragrance into the jar. Stir and shake to mix all the ingredients. Refrigerate to cool gel before using. Refrigerate when not in use. Gel lasts appx. 2 weeks in the fridge.

On clean, sectioned, and detangled hair, add a dollop of the gel to your section and work through your hair using fingers or comb. Continue until you ccomplete all secrtions..
